First complete set of coins after
Fall of Saddam Hussein
After the Gulf War, two very different currencies in value
circulated in Iraq: the so-called “Swiss dinar”
and Saddam Dinar. Eliminating Saddam
Hussein from power in 2003 led to
the introduction of a single currency again, on the stock exchange
ratio 1:1 to the Saddam dinar and 150:1 to the Swiss
dinar. This is a complete first set of new coins
Iraqi dinars. The obverse of the coins bears the name
central bank and denominations.
The reverses have a geographical depiction of Iraq with
the Euphrates and Tigris rivers and the year of minting
according to the Gregorian and Islamic calendars.
– Map of the “origins of civilization”
– Dates according to two calendar systems
– Political Turn Coins
