The Kyrgyz Republic was the first country

former Soviet Union, replacing the ruble

own currency.

After they were released in 1993

only banknotes, the first coins were not minted

until 2008.

This is the complete first set of Kyrgyz som coins.

The obverse features the national coat of arms.

The reverse shows the corresponding denomination,

as well as floral ornament

or a traditional leather drinking vessel – the so-called kukor.
