A complete set of Kwacha coins from the Land of Dawn.
The name of the Malawian currency, kwacha, means “dawn”,
which figuratively indicates the progress of the country
since gaining independence in 1964.
This complete set of kwacha coins is dedicated to
both the wildlife of Malawi and its inhabitants.
The obverse depicts the Nile tilapia,
long-tailed bird of paradise, purple heron,
corn on the cob, an African elephant with a cub,
national Emblem, African Fish Eagle,
local fishermen and a farmer harvesting.
The obverse features the national coat of arms and
portrait of the first President Hastings Kamuzu Banda respectively.
