The ringgit was issued under the motto “Distinctively

Malaysia” and is intended to represent nature with

perspectives of different cultures of Malaysia.

The obverse depicts hibiscus flowers (the national plant) and

denominations. The reverse depicts a woven

pattern of the Kadazan Dusun tribe and one of the Mah Meri peoples,

stylized jasmine flowers, pea tendrils and

five lines that symbolize the five principles

national philosophy. Reverse coin 50 Sep
