The first set of coins of the Republic of Moldova

After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991

Moldova became an independent republic.

In the same year, the National Bank of Moldova was established,

and two years later, the leu was introduced.

This is the complete first set of Moldavian Bani coins.

The obverse depicts an interesting national coat of arms of Moldova.

In addition to many cultural symbols,

this also includes an eagle and a bison head –

one of the national animals of Moldova.

The reverses of the coins show the denominations

oak branches and vines.
