Coin set – Mozambique

The first and complete set of coins of the second metical of Mozambique

Mozambique is known for its rich wildlife

and beautiful beaches.

But its culture is also unique.

One of the traditional instruments

is the xylophone of the Chopi people,

known as “mbila”.

The music played on it

considered the most complex of all pre-literate cultures.

To highlight the importance of education,

in addition to the mbila on one of the reverses

This is the first complete series of Mozambican coins.

after the monetary reform of 2006.

The rest of the reverses depict a rhinoceros,

cheetah, tractor with plow, cotton plant,

giant fisher bird, coelacanth fish

and the central bank building.

All obverses feature the bank’s logo.
