Pakistan was proclaimed the world’s first Islamic
Republic in 1956. The state religion is ubiquitous in
cities across the country, including
numerous impressive buildings such as Badshahi
the mosque in Lahore depicted on the 2 rupee coin. On the
front side depicts a portrait of the founder of the state
Muhammad Ali Jinnah (1876-1948) and Islamic
symbol with crescent and star.
The reverse sides are decorated
temple of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehvan Sharif and
the aforementioned Badshahi Mosque in Lahore.
The 1 pice coin is also an FAO issue,
which is used to fund FAO projects.
