First European in the Pacific
In 1513 Vasco Nunez de Balboa (1475–1519)
became the first European in history
crossed the American continent and reached the Pacific Ocean.
The currency of Panama is named after the Spanish conquistador.
This complete set of Panamanian balboa coins is the first
containing a bimetallic coin.
The denomination corresponds to the denomination of the US dollar
and, unusually, is indicated exclusively
words on all coins.
The reverse depicts portraits of a freedom fighter
from the indigenous peoples of Urraca (c. 1490–1531),
feminists Sarah Sotillo Guillén (1900–1961) and Nunez de Balboa.
The obverse features an interesting national coat of arms.
– Includes bimetal coin
– Historical Figures of Panama
– National coat of arms with many details
