The flag of Canada represents pride, valor, freedom and peace and is considered one of the most widely recognized national symbols in the world. But most of all, for Canadians, it represents home.
The obverse of the coin features fifty children, each representing one of the flag’s 50 years, as well as Canada’s future. Bottom center the words “50 YEARS/ANS”. The issuing country, the year of issue and the denomination of the coin are also indicated. The design was created by artist Bonnie Ross from Nova Scotia. The reverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in profile, surrounded by the Latin inscription “ELIZABETH II DG REGINA”.
