2$ Tuvalu Colored Gilded Silver Coin 2022 – Tutankhamen PROOF
€169.00 includes 22% VAT
The coin is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. The nearly 3,500-year-old tomb of King Tutankhamun was discovered by British archaeologist Howard Carter in Egypt’s Valley of the Kings in 1922, causing worldwide sensation. Resting on the mummified remains of the young pharaoh was an ornate death mask, elaborately crafted from gold, a lustrous precious metal that the ancient Egyptians believed to be the skin of the gods. Along with the king’s mummified body, his fabulous golden treasures remained remarkably intact.
The image is gilded with 24 carat gold and decorated with colored appliqués representing the glass paste inserts of the famous artifact. Behind the mask, the hieroglyphs on the reverse side of the mask are redrawn, as well as the elliptical cartouche of Tutankhamen.
