such as the poet José Martí (1853–1895) and
general Antonio Maceo (1845–1896).
Marty became a symbol of Cuban independence
through his political writings and
was a co-founder of the first independent
Latin American literary movement “Modernism”.
Maceo was one of the most important
commanders of the Cuban War of Independence.
Both are marked with a portrait on one
