EXCLUSIVE 0.5 kg silver coin €250 France 2020 – Museum Masterpieces: Vincent van Gogh

This coin is dedicated to Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh and his famous work “Self Portrait”. Self-Portrait, created in September 1889, may be the last painting of its kind created by Van Gogh. It was written at the Saint-Paul-de-Mosole sanatorium in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, where he was hospitalized for psychological problems. In the color motif, the turquoise background and Van Gogh’s jacket contrast with the fiery orange color of his hair.

Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch painter whose work had a significant influence on 20th century painting. In a decade or so, he has created more than 2,100 works, including some 870 oil paintings. These include portraits, self-portraits, landscapes, still lifes and panels depicting olive trees, cypresses, fields of wheat and sunflowers.
