Gold coin 10 rubles Russia – Nicholas II

The “10 Ruble Nicholas II” coin was issued primarily at the St. Petersburg Mint from 1898 to 1911 and remains Russia’s most recognizable historical coin. Although millions of these coins were minted between 1898 and 1911, most were melted down or disappeared. Due to their relative rarity and historical significance, they are highly sought after by collectors and investors.

The obverse of the coin depicts Nicholas II, The Emperor who reigned from 1896 to 1917. He was the last monarch of the Romanov dynasty, whose history came to an end in 1918, when the Bolsheviks assassinated the entire royal family. Before that, the Romanov line had ruled the Russian Empire for over 300 years, making it one of the most influential powers in the world.

The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Russian Empire: a double-headed eagle with a medal on its chest, holding a scepter and orb in its talons. On the eagle’s wings are eight coats of arms, one for each kingdom that was part of the Russian Empire at the time: Poland, Tauric Chersonesus, Georgia, Siberia, the Kingdom of Canaan, the Principality of Kiev, the Principality of Finland, and Novgorod. The coin’s face value and year of issue are inscribed below the eagle.
