The Belka and Strelka silver coin is dedicated to the first animals in Space – dogs, which flew on the Sputnik-5 spacecraft on August 19, 1960. The launch was carried out from the Baikonur cosmodrome located in Kazakhstan.
The obverse of the coin depicts a composition that symbolizes the unity of man and the universe, as a connection between the past and the present.
The reverse of the coin features an image of Belka and Strelka in a stylized space capsule. In the upper part there is an image of a galaxy of stars, symbolizing open space.
