Set of 2 euros Finland 2024 – Elections and Democracy + Architecture Proof
€85.00 includes 22% VAT
This is the first time Finland is issuing 2 euro coins in Proof as one set.
The set consists of two 2 euro coins.
The first coin is dedicated to elections and democracy.
In Finland, the people have government power under the Constitution and are represented by Parliament. Democracy includes the right to participate and influence society. The Ministry of Justice provides these rights, including oversight of election laws and administration of national and municipal elections and referendums.
The coin features a design of eight ballots surrounded by the words “Elections and Democracy” in Swedish and Finnish.
The second coin is dedicated to Finnish architecture.
Gesellius-Lindgren-Saarinen is a Finnish architectural firm founded in 1896 by Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen. The trio’s first major work was the Finnish Pavilion for the 1900 World’s Fair in Paris (designed in 1898), designed in the spirit of Finnish national romanticism, with frescoes by Gallen-Kallela; this work was a success and brought the young co-authors a number of notable commissions. The firm existed until 1907, after which the architects worked separately.
