ROLL 2 euro 2021 Finland – 100 years of autonomy for the Aland Islands

In 2021, Finland will issue 2 euros, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the autonomy of the Aland Islands (since 1921).

The Åland archipelago is located in the Baltic Sea between Finland and Sweden. It is an autonomous Finnish province. Although there are 6.5 thousand islands in the archipelago, only 60 are inhabited. The region has its own tax system, flag, Swedish as the only official language.

The obverse of the coin depicts a marine view of the Åland Islands archipelago, the bow of a boat and a hand with a compass. The design is surrounded by the words “ÅLANDS SJÄLVSTYRELSE 100 ÅR” and “AHVENANMAAN ITSEHALLINTO 100 VUOTTA”.
