Roll 2 euro Germany 2022 – Thuringia: Wartburg castle ADFGJ
€300.00
The Wartburg is a medieval castle. It is located on a 410 meters (1,350 ft) cliff to the southwest and overlooks the city of Eisenach in Thuringia, Germany. In 1999, UNESCO listed Wartburg Castle as a World Heritage Site. The Wartburg is the most visited tourist attraction in Thuringia after Weimar. Although the castle today still contains substantial original structures from the 12th to 15th centuries, much of the interior only dates back to the 19th century.
On the obverse is a view of the Wartburg castle in Eisenach from the bridge. Below in the center is the name of the federal state “THURINGEN” and the letter “D” for the state that issued the certificate. The year of issue “2022” can be seen at the top left and the initials “OS” by artist Olaf Stoja on the right.
