The first coin is dedicated to the summer solstice.
The Summer Solstice is a pagan and Zoroastrian holiday, the shortest night of the year, celebrated in various forms in different parts of the world. It is one of the four important holidays of the “annual wheel” and a key point in the countdown of the annual cycle. Common features of the celebration in Europe include making bonfires, swimming in ponds and telling fortunes.
The second coin is dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Andorra’s membership in the UN.
The United Nations is an international organization created to maintain and strengthen international peace and security, as well as develop cooperation between states. The UN is considered a universal forum endowed with unique legitimacy, the supporting structure of the international system of collective security, and the main element of modern multilateral diplomacy. The UN was created after World War II to prevent future world wars and replaced the League of Nations, which was characterized as ineffective. Since 2011, 193 countries have been members of the UN. Within the broader UN system there are a number of specialized international agencies, funds and programs, including the World Bank Group, the World Health Organization, the World Food Programme, UNESCO and UNICEF. Andorra joined the UN in 1993.
