Silver 8 Euro Estonia 2021 – Olympic Games in Tokyo

The coin is dedicated to the Estonian Olympic athletes who are due to take part in the XXXII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo in July-August 2021. The obverse of the coin depicts the sun rising over the majestic Japanese Mount Fuji. At the bottom there is an Olympic flame and rings. The reverse side of the coin features the Estonian national emblem.

The uniqueness of the coin is given by the year of minting on the reverse side of the coin. Initially, the Olympic Games in Tokyo were supposed to take place in 2020 and this year is crossed out on the coin (an extremely rare phenomenon in numismatics). Pictured below is 2021, which could also be the wrong year for the Olympic Games. Due to the new outbreak of coronavirus in major cities in Japan, it is likely that the date of the Olympic Games will be postponed to 2022.
