Konstantin Päts (February 23, 1874 – January 18, 1956) was an Estonian statesman, lawyer, journalist, one of the most influential Estonian politicians in 1918–1940 and the first President of Estonia (1938–1940).
Konstantin Päts was one of the founders of the independent democratic state of Estonia – Chairman of the Estonian Salvation Committee, then Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the first composition of the Estonian Provisional Government and Prime Minister of the second and third composition. As an elected representative of the people, Päts was a deputy of the Constituent Assembly of the Republic of Estonia (1919–1920) and a member of parliament from the first to the fifth composition. Päts was head of state for four terms, as well as prime minister in the role of head of state and state treasurer, and after the 1938 elections, the first president of the Republic of Estonia.
