Aerosmith is an American rock band formed in 1970. The coin is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the debut eponymous album, recorded in 1973. Aerosmith had a strong influence on the development of various musical trends, combining in their work elements of hard rock, heavy metal, pop music, glam and blues. In 2001, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and Rolling Stone magazine and VH1 named them one of the 100 Greatest Musicians of All Time. Aerosmith is the best-selling American hard rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide. On June 25, 2016, Aerosmith leader Steve Tyler announced the band’s disbandment after a farewell tour.
