Maria Sklodowska-Curie (1867-1934) – Polish and French experimental scientist (physicist, chemist), teacher, social activist.
In 1903 Marie Curie received the Nobel Prize in Physics and in 1911 she received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. She became the first woman to win the Nobel Prize and is still the only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice.
Together with her husband, Pierre Curie, and Antoine Henri Becquerel, she is the discoverer of radioactivity and the author of the term “radioactivity”.
Together with her husband, she discovered the elements radium and polonium.
The chemical element curium is named after Pierre and Marie Curie.
