The Rolling Stones are a British rock band formed in 1962 that rivaled The Beatles in popularity for many years. The Rolling Stones, an important part of the British Invasion, are considered one of the most influential and successful bands in rock history. They were supposed to become a “rebellious” alternative to The Beatles, already in 1969 during the American tour they were advertised as “the greatest rock and roll band in the world” and managed to maintain this status to this day. In 1989, The Rolling Stones were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 2004 they were ranked number four on Rolling Stone’s list of the 50 Greatest Artists of All Time. The album “Voodoo Lounge” (1994) brought The Rolling Stones two Grammy awards. The band’s 1973 album Goats Head Soup was re-released in 2020. The album topped the UK Albums Chart and the Rolling Stones became the first act to top the chart in six different decades. The album “Exile on Main St” took 7th place in the list of the best albums of all time.
Current members of the band are Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood.
The first ever The Rolling Stones museum was bulit in Germany in 2008.
