Silver coin 20 euro Belgium 2023 – 100th anniversary of the airline “Sabena”
€75.00 includes 22% VAT
Sabena is the Belgian state-owned airline that operated from 1923 to 2001. Sabena’s flight schedule included 33 cities in Europe, 17 cities in Africa, 6 cities in North America and 4 cities in Asia.
On May 23, 1923, the day Sabena was founded, her first flight also took off immediately. This made it the oldest airline in Europe after KLM. The “father of Belgian aviation” Georges Nelis (the first Belgian military man with a military pilot’s license) and King Albert I were directly involved in its creation. The coin depicts a Sabena Airbus A340-211 with René Magritte’s Bird of the Sky on the wingtips. The plane flies around the globe.
