Silver Coin 5 Euro Malta 2021 – Knights of the Past

90.00 includes 24% VAT

The coin is the first issue in the “Knights of Malta Past” series. A series of unique coins refers to the traditions of the Order of Malta and its fate in the history of Europe.

The obverse of the first coin of the series depicts the Knights of Malta in battle formation against the background of the famous Verdal Palace. The reverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the Central Bank of Malta on a shield held by a Knight of Malta.

The Renaissance palace of Verdal, designed by the Maltese architect Girolamo Cassar, was built in 1586 during the reign of Hugh Lubens de Verdal. This limestone building located in the Busquette Gardens in Malta, while it looked like a military fort, was definitely not.
