Around the legend of the monarch, followed by the denomination and date of issue: CHARLES III D G REX F D ST. ELENA 1 POUND 2023. Translated from Latin, the legend means: Charles the Third, by the grace of God, King, Defender of the Faith, Saint Helena.
The reverse of the coin depicts Saint George on horseback, facing left, wearing a feathered helmet and cloak, holding a spear in both hands, pointing at a dragon raising its head. Around on the right is the name of the designer W. Wyon (William Wyon). In the lower left margin is the mint mark EIC of the East India Company.
