Celebrating the heraldry and history of the Tudor period with a contemporary design, Royal Tudor Beasts is a new collection from the Royal Mint. Heraldic beasts are part of the history of the monarchy, a tradition of lineage and strength on the battlefield that goes back centuries. Inspired by this long tradition, the royal beasts stand guard over the moat at Hampton Court Palace, representing Henry VIII and the mighty Tudor dynasty.

The seventh coin in this series is dedicated to the Richmond Greyhound.

The Richmond Greyhound represents loyalty and nobility, symbolizing the strength and legitimacy of the Tudor dynasty. This slender and graceful dog has been considered a sign of loyalty and vigilance for centuries, and in heraldry was associated with purity of intentions and courage. In historical images, it was often shown with a gold collar, emphasizing its belonging to the royal family.

Obverse: Depicts a Richmond Greyhound standing proudly on his hind legs and holding a heraldic shield.

Reverse: Portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.
