Description: The coin features a portrait of Simone Veil, a well-known women’s rights activist. Simone Veil, a maiden named Jacob, died at the age of 89 in June 2017. Having been sent to Auschwitz and survived there, she later became one of the most important figures in the construction of Europe. He was the first elected President of the European Parliament from 1979 to 1982. She is a symbol of the abolition of penalties for abortion – she fought for it, and the law passed in 1975 bears her name. In 2008 he was elected to the French Academy. His concentration camp prisoner number is depicted on the collar. The background shows the European Parliament, above which are its name, years of life, country code RF, year of issue 2018 and mint marks. The outer ring of the coin depicts the 12 stars of the European Union flag.
