The Merlion is the national symbol of Singapore. It is the

a hybrid of a lion and a fish. While the fish represents

traditional connection with the sea, the lion comes

from the legend of the founding of Singapore: the first settlement

was built on the site of a supposed lion sighting,

however, it was presumed to be a Malaysian tiger.

“Singapura” in Sanskrit means “Lion City”.

The Merlion is shown next to the micro laser tag.
