From December 20, 1821 to January 16, 1822, the Greeks in revolt held their first National Assembly at Nea Epidavros, which adopted the first governmental charter of modern Greece, the Provisional Constitution of Greece.
The coin depicts Syntagmatos Square in Athens, also known as Constitution Square. Now the square is the palace of the Greek Parliament.
