Mdina is a fortified city in northern Malta that was the capital of the island from antiquity to the Middle Ages. The city is still bounded by its walls and has a population of just under 300. The approximate age of Malta’s historic capital is about 4000 years old. The town is located on a hilltop and there was a fortified settlement there as early as the Bronze Age. Parts of the TV series Game of Thrones were also filmed in the city of Mdina.
