1 US dollar 2025 Michigan – Auto Assembly Line
€4.00
As part of the American Innovation series, the United States will issue a $1 commemorative coin in January 2025 dedicated to the state of Michigan and its contribution to the development of mass production. These coins pay tribute to the state’s auto industry and Michigan’s role in the development of the modern assembly line.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it was in Michigan, in the city of Detroit, that Henry Ford introduced the revolutionary technology of conveyor assembly of cars. This move not only sped up vehicle production, but also forever changed the approach to industrial production around the world. This innovation made cars more affordable and established Michigan as the center of the American auto industry.
The reverse of the coin depicts an automobile assembly line: workers are installing a body on a chassis, and next to it are already assembled cars from the early 20th century. This scene illustrates a key moment in the history of mechanical engineering. The top of the coin is adorned with the inscription “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and the bottom is inscribed “MICHIGAN” and “AUTO ASSEMBLY LINE”.
This commemorative coin not only celebrates the engineering revolution that took place in Michigan, but also highlights the importance of innovation in the development of the American economy and society.
