The County of Carladès is a fiefdom that has been linked to the princely House of Grimaldi since the 17th century and has since retained symbolic value for Monaco.

In 1643, King Louis XIII of France granted Honoré II, the first Prince of Monaco, the title of Count of Carladès. This gesture was a recognition of Monaco’s sovereignty and strong alliance with the French crown.
