Coin set – Bulgaria Lev

The Bulgarian lev was the national currency of Bulgaria from 1879 to 2025. The transition to the euro took place on January 1, 2026.

The set consists of 8 coins: 2 and 1 lev and 50, 20, 10, 5, 2, 1 stotinki.

The reverse of the 2 lev coin features a portrait of Paisius of Hilendar, a prominent 18th-century Bulgarian educator and author of the “Slavonic-Bulgarian History.” The 1 lev coin features Saint John of Rila, the patron saint of the Bulgarian people, the first Bulgarian hermit, and the founder of the Rila Monastery. The 50, 20, 10, 5, 2, and 1 stotinka coins depict the Madara Horseman, a unique 8th-century rock relief included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, symbolizing the power of the Bulgarian state. He is depicted on horseback, spearing a lion, with the inscription “БъЛГАРИЯ” (BULGARIA).
