2 euro Germany 2026 – Konrad Adenauer (ADFGJ) Proof

The coin set is dedicated to the German statesman and first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, Konrad Adenauer (1876-1967), in honor of the 150th anniversary of his birth.

Adenauer was a proponent of a social market economy, political freedom, and human rights, and held a firm anti-communist stance. He developed Germany’s cooperation with France, Great Britain, and the United States, supported European integration, and West Germany’s accession to NATO. In 1933, after the Nazis came to power, he resigned due to his intolerance of Hitler and National Socialism. After the war, he again became mayor of Cologne, chaired the Parliamentary Council, and then became the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany.
