Silver Coin 10€ France 2026 – The Lord of the Rings: Gandalf Fights the Balrog

To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the release of the first film in Peter Jackson’s “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, Monnaie de Paris will present a collection of precious coins in 2026 dedicated to the legendary fantasy classic.

The coin depicts a scene from the film, where, in the depths of Moria, the Fellowship of the Ring faces an obstacle on the bridge of Khazad-dûm. Gandalf stands alone between his comrades and an ancient shadow—the Balrog. As fire and darkness collide, he utters the legendary words: “You shall not pass!” His sacrifice gives the Fellowship a chance to continue their journey, albeit at the cost of their own fall into the abyss.
