2 euro San Marino 2026 – Titian Proof

The coin commemorates the 450th anniversary of the death of Titian, one of the greatest masters of the Italian Renaissance, famous for his portraits, as well as paintings on mythological and biblical subjects.

The obverse of the coin depicts Titian’s early Baroque work “Wisdom” (Sapientia, 1560), housed in the Marciana Library in Venice, where Wisdom is represented as an allegorical female figure. The selected fragment, although greatly simplified for minting, conveys key characteristics of Titian’s painting—the priority of color over line, soft contours, and a vibrant, airy atmosphere.
