1 ruble Transnistria 2020 – Church of Alexander Nevsky, Bender

The military church in the name of the blessed Grand Duke Alexander Nevsky in the city of Bendery, Tiraspol-Dubossary Diocese, is located in the Bendery Fortress.
The church was consecrated in 1833 in the presence of Emperor Nicholas I, who presented the new church with a Gospel, a silver censer, and brocaded censers. In 1877, Emperor Alexander II prayed in the church, as did the Tsar-Martyr Nicholas II and his family later. The stone church, cruciform in plan with an attached bell tower, is in the Byzantine style. It can accommodate up to 600 people.
