2 Euro Croatia 2023 – Introduction of Euro Proof

The coin is dedicated to the transition of Croatia to the euro. Croatia adopted the euro on January 1, 2023. This is the first enlargement of the eurozone since Lithuania joined in 2015. On the first day of 2023, Croatia became the twentieth member of the eurozone.
The design features the inscriptions of the issuing country “HRVATSKA” (Croatia) and the year of issue “2023” placed horizontally, as well as the words “ČLANICA EUROPODRUČJA” (member of the euro area). These inscriptions symbolically form the stylized euro symbol “€”. Another central motif of the coin is the distinctive and recognizable symbol of Croatia – the Croatian chessboard, which is part of the coat of arms of the Republic of Croatia.
