€25.00
The coin is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the birth of Henry of Orange-Nassau, Prince of the Netherlands and Governor of Luxembourg. Henry was born on July 13, 1820 at Soostdijk Palace, Barn, the Netherlands. He became the third son and child in the family of the Crown Prince of the Netherlands and Luxembourg, Willem, and his wife Anna Pavlovna, daughter of the Russian Emperor Paul I. Henry’s residence was Walferdeng Palace, where the prince died in 1879. Now the palace is part of the University of Luxembourg.
The coin is noteworthy in that it has the marks of the Dutch mint on either side of the year of issue: on the left is the bridge (mark of the engraver Stephan Satijn), on the right is the Caduceus.
