2 euro Monaco 2026 – Duchy of Valentinois

The coin is dedicated to the Duchy of Valentinois, a historical title closely associated with the ruling Grimaldi dynasty for several centuries. The title of Duke of Valentinois was granted to the ancestors of the princes of Monaco by the French crown and over time became one of the most important symbols of the principality’s dynastic heritage. Today, it remains part of the Grimaldi family’s historical tradition and a reminder of the centuries-old ties between Monaco and France.

The obverse of the coin depicts the bell tower of the Collegiate Church of the Holy Cross, located in the town of Montélimar and considered an outstanding historical monument of the Italian Renaissance. On the right side is the inscription “MONACO” and a diamond pattern – one of the recognizable elements of the heraldry of the House of Grimaldi. At the bottom of the coin is the name of the duchy, “DUCHÉ DE VALENTINOIS,” and on the left is the year of issue, “2026.”
