The roan antelope is an African antelope of the subfamily Scimitaria. Weighing up to 300 kg and standing 1.6 m at the shoulder, it is the second largest antelope in the world after the common eland. Roan antelopes are found in West, East, and Southern Africa. They sometimes reach altitudes of up to 2,000 m above sea level.
