This coin from the “Luminous Marine Life” series is dedicated to the scorpionfish, a marine predator known for its excellent camouflage and venomous spines.

The scorpionfish is primarily found in the Indo-Pacific region and tropical waters, where it blends seamlessly with coral reefs while lying in ambush for its prey. Scorpionfish are capable of delivering painful venomous stings with their sharp spines. Their camouflage is remarkably effective — thanks to their mottled red, brown, and yellow coloration, as well as their fleshy appendages, they merge almost perfectly with their surroundings.

The obverse depicts a scorpionfish against a seascape with corals and other fish. The composition is executed in rich, colorful tones, conveying the beauty of the underwater world. A distinctive feature of the coin is its ultraviolet glow effect—under this light, the colors become even more vibrant and saturated, and the image seems to come alive.
