The coin is dedicated to the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royal Court has released a series of coins in honor of the succession of the royal throne to celebrate the life and legacy of Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. This is the first coin with a portrait of His Majesty King Charles III.

Elizabeth II came to the throne on February 6, 1952, and thus was the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the longest-reigning female head of state in history, as well as the oldest and longest-reigning head of state.

Obverse: The first portrait of His Majesty the King personally approved by the monarch.
Reverse: A design created for the 1953 coronation coin in homage to Her Majesty.
