Celebrating the heraldry and history of the Tudor period with a contemporary design, Royal Tudor Beasts is a new collection from the Royal Mint. Heraldic beasts are part of the history of the monarchy, a tradition of lineage and strength on the battlefield that goes back centuries. Inspired by this long tradition, the royal beasts stand guard over the moat at Hampton Court Palace, representing Henry VIII and the mighty Tudor dynasty.

The sixth coin in the series is dedicated to the Tudor Dragon.

The Tudor Dragon appears as an unwavering guardian perched on the bridge over the Moat at Hampton Court Palace, faithfully guarding its gates and being the main refuge of Tudor heritage.
The Tudor dragon, holding a shield adorned with the Beaufort coat of arms, is an awe-inspiring and enduring symbol of valor and bravery. The Tudor dragon, which made history, came to symbolize the Tudor family, going back to Welsh roots and establishing links to previous royal ancestors.
