2 euro colored coin Estonia 2021 – Finno-Ugric peoples

12.00 includes 24% VAT

The design of the coin is based on rock paintings of Lake Jänisjärvi, in which the symbols of a hunter, elk, waterfowl and the sun form a symbolic circle of the life of the Finno-Ugric nations. The central figure is a waterfowl, since modern and ancient Finno-Ugric nations are waterfowl peoples.

The Finno-Ugric peoples are the peoples of North-Eastern Europe, North Asia and the Carpathian basin, who speak the Finno-Ugric languages, that is, the speakers of the languages of the Uralic family, except for the Samoyeds.

The concept of the Finno-Ugric language was originally linguistic, not ethnic,
but a sense of ethnic brotherhood between the Finno-Ugric-speaking peoples, especially the Baltic Finns, developed during the 20th century.
