Coloured 2 euro Estonia 2026 – Sipsik (Night)

10.00 includes 24% VAT

The coin is dedicated to Sipsik, one of the most recognizable characters in Estonian children’s literature. The hero of Eno Raud’s book has remained an important part of the country’s culture for decades, and the stories of the adventures of Mart, Anu, and their doll are familiar to almost every Estonian since childhood.

Sipsik is a rag doll that schoolboy Mart sewed as a gift for his younger sister, Anu. For the girl, Sipsik gradually becomes a true friend. In the world of children’s imaginations, he comes to life, talks, and experiences various adventures with them, although to those around him, he remains an ordinary rag doll. It is this combination of imagination, kindness, and childlike sincerity that has made Sipsik a symbol of childhood for several generations.

The obverse of the coin depicts Sipsik in his classic look, based on the illustrations of artist Edgar Walther. His recognizable thread-like hair and blue-and-white striped suit are a nod to the character’s original appearance. Sipsik sits on a crescent moon, with the night sky in the background. The coin’s face value is inscribed on the reverse.
