In 2023, France will host its second Rugby World Cup after the 2007 tournament. This competition is the most prestigious rugby tournament in the world and has been held every four years since 1987. To prepare for this major sporting event, Monnaie de Paris, in collaboration with the 2023 Rugby World Cup, is releasing a series of collectible coins to celebrate this sporting event.
This series is dedicated to some of the great European rugby nations, especially the Anglo-Saxon countries from which the sport itself was born. France, England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland are featured in five 1/4 euro coins, while the sixth is dedicated to the emblem of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
The overall reverse features the Webb Ellis trophy.
