Royal Mint Government Engraver William Wyon created some of the most iconic coin designs of the Victorian era. His portrait “Young Head” of 1838 pleased Queen Victoria so much that it adorned the coins of her reign for almost 50 years.

In 1847, to celebrate Victoria’s 10th birthday as queen, a silver crown was issued, later known as the “Gothic Crown”.

On the obverse side of the coin, you can also see in detail the left-facing profile of the 28-year-old Queen Victoria with her hair braided into a long braid. You should also pay attention to Victoria’s dress, it has plant symbols of various regions of the country. The mint mark of the East India Company is placed near the Queen’s shoulder.

The reverse side of the coin features a modern image of Queen Elizabeth II.

This coin is a unique opportunity to capture the memory of two queens of Great Britain, ruling in different eras.
