In 2016, the Paris Mint launched a new series dedicated to the history of France through famous women who have made an impact in various fields.
Grace Kelly (1929-1982) – American actress, since 1956 – wife of Prince Rainier III of Monaco, 10th Duchess of Monaco, mother of the current reigning Prince Albert II. She won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in The Country Girl (1954). The release of the coin pays tribute to Grace Kelly on the 40th anniversary of her death.
